Saint Francis Health System - Multiple Medical Campuses

Saint Francis Health System - Multiple Medical Campuses
Tulsa, Oklahoma

Multiple projects for the Saint Francis Health System, totaling approximately 1,300,000 square feet on four campuses, include a heart center renovation, a 50-bed neonatal intensive care unit, an expansion to a psychiatric research center to accommodate a Functional MRI, and expansions to emergency departments, outpatient rehabilitation and a women’s hospital.

The existing Heart Hospital at the Yale campus has been renovated into an appealing 12,100-square-foot space that complements the recently-implemented innovative approach to the Saint Francis cardiac care program, specifically patient-and-family-focused care. The existing space was transformed into a light-filled atrium that welcomes patients and their families to the facility while providing easy-access to vital information. Far from being designed simply as a transitory space, patients and their families are encouraged to utilize the lobby as an extended “family room” by enjoying the fountain below the staircase and the illuminated feature wall or to linger in the upstairs café. Additionally, a large oval-shaped portion of the slab that divided two existing floors was removed to create a light-filled double-height space and a sweeping monumental staircase added to embrace the double-height space.

Other projects at the Saint Francis Hospital - Yale Campus include the emergency medicine expansion, interior renovations and a future parking garage. The Saint Francis Hospital at Broken Arrow is scheduled for major renovation that includes the rehabilitation hospital. On the Saint Francis Hospital - South Campus, the emergency medicine department is scheduled for expansion along with outpatient rehabilitation and the women’s hospital. The Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital is scheduled for the design and construction of the new FMRI (functional MRI) building. All of the scheduled work at these four medical campuses will be concurrent and phased.

A 50-bed neonatal intensive care unit will replace the existing open-bay facility at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis. The new layout employs a private room model, dramatically decreasing noise levels, while providing family amenities and appropriate space at the bedside.  Six semi-private and 38 private rooms are arranged in pods to control ambient noise, improve access to supplies, and limit traffic through care areas.
