Harris County Youth Services Center

The 72,800-square-foot Harris County Youth Services Center houses Children's Protective Services, counseling and probation services, a full medical and dental clinic, and a 24-hour shelter with an in-house school. The building was organized into simple "bar" buildings that utilize uniform structural dimensions and materials. Scattered over a large green site, they create a series of interior and exterior courtyards that weave their way through the complex. Materials, plants, colors and systems were used to identify and organize departments and to reinforce way finding and building/client interaction.
