PageSoutherlandPage Represented at the 2010 Global Forum

Houston, TX (1 July 2010)  John Cryer III and Arturo Chavez, Principals of the Houston office of PageSoutherlandPage, attended the 2010 Global Forum in Cape Town, South Africa. Sponsored by Fortune, Time and CNN, as well as major international corporations, the Global Forum is an annual event dedicated to the promotion of international business in the global market place.  The Forum brings together political leaders and chief executive officers of major international businesses to facilitate greater emphasis on global growth and the issues associated with it.

The 2010 conference, “The New Global Opportunity,” focused on developing opportunities throughout Africa, with a broad matrix of topics ranging from sustainable growth and clean technologies to global security and social media in the developing world. Attendees and speakers included former U.S. President William J. Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and His Excellency Jacob Zuma, President, Republic of South Africa, along with leaders from 36 countries and dozens of industries.

Both John and Art participated in a round table discussion, “Innovation by Design,” where the participants explored the increasing global awareness of the need to design regional and contextual responses to community issues. PageSoutherlandPage, one of the major architecture and engineering firms in the United States, is dedicated to development of new business and partnerships in Africa and was a major participant in the Global Forum.  PageSoutherlandPage and its strategic partner, Guinea-Roth, were instrumental in arranging for their client, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbassogo, Equatorial Guinea, to serve as one of the key note speakers, where he outlined major reforms for his county.

PageSoutherlandPage is the largest provider of design services for United States embassy and consular compounds overseas.  They are currently working on their 16th embassy, many of which are in Africa, including: Kigali, Khartoum, Johannesburg, Brazzaville, Antananarivo, Ouagadougou, Addis Ababa and Monrovia.  Other projects in Africa include the Presidential Library and Museum for President Obiang in Equatorial Guinea, as well as several major developments in that country in healthcare and tourism.  In addition they are completing a five-star Kempinski Hotel in Accra, Ghana, and an office building in Dakar, Senegal.
