Dallas, TX (11 August 2011) – The Dallas showroom for National Office Furniture has received a LEED-CI Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. PageSoutherlandPage provided interior design services as well as LEED project management and MEP and structural engineering for the renovated showroom, which is located in the Dallas Decorative Center.
The space is thoughtfully divided creating multiple vignettes, yet done so in a way that allows daylight to penetrate all facets of the showroom, providing unobstructed views to the outside to over 90% of regularly occupied spaces. Although the showroom occupied an existing shell space, skylights were added to provide more natural light to the building occupants. Through the use of LED and CFL fixtures, the team was able to decrease levels of energy consumption 52.66% below the standard to reduce environmental impacts.
High recycled content and low emitting materials such as adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings and composites, and furniture were specified, and nonhazardous cleaning supplies were incorporated into the building’s maintenance and operations. Additional sustainable strategies include:
· Estimated 35% reduction in water use with the use of low flow, efficient water fixtures
· 77% of the construction waste (by weight) was recycled
· Furniture meets healthy air criteria with certification to SCS Indoor Advantage™ and SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold
