| PageSoutherlandPage Dallas Wins the 2011 International Canstruction Award for Structural Ingenuity |

In October 2010, PageSoutherlandPage submitted “Blowing Away Hunger” as their submission for the local Dallas Canstruction competition. The design for the sculpture, which won the local Structural Ingenuity award, was inspired by the impact tornadoes have on communities. “Much like hunger,” according to the team’s description, “tornadoes leave entire communities in ruins and devastation. Many lose their homes, their possessions, and their hope. Yet time and time again, volunteers arrive with their spirit, heart, and whatever they can provide to help all those cope with their losses. For once, let’s see a tornado not as a symbol of ultimate destruction, but one of hope, love, and sharing.”
Through the use of digital photographs, “Blowing Away Hunger” competed against 101 local Structural Ingenuity winners in the International Canstruction competition in that award category. The judges who conferred the Structural Ingenuity award to PageSoutherlandPage of Dallas used terms such as “beautifully balanced,” “daring” and “overpowering,” when describing this impressive piece.
PageSoutherlandPage Dallas has won the local Dallas award for Structural Ingenuity for the past three years, and this is the first year that the firm has won an International Canstruction award. This is only the third international award Canstruction Dallas has ever won and the only award that wasn’t a runner up or an honorable mention. “You made Dallas Proud,” said Cindy Savell, Canstruction Dallas.
