PageSoutherlandPage Partners with Texas Tech on LEED Class

Houston, Texas (15 January 2009) The Houston office of PageSoutherlandPage has long had a relationship with the College of Architecture at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, beginning with Lewis May’s involvement with their collaborative studio, IdeaTech.

The College of Architecture has been working to expand its curriculum in sustainable design issues, and through the efforts of Ken Bailey and David Driskill (Associate Dean for External Programs), PageSoutherlandPage will be an active participant in the first class geared toward preparing students for the USGBC LEED Professional Accreditation exam.

Tonight, Joanna Yaghooti, AIA, LEED, will begin the first of 13 class sessions as a guest speaker. Conducted via webinar from the Houston office, these presentations will address all of the LEED credits covered in the LEED Accreditation exam. As of today, 43 students have signed up to take the two-hour class, one hour of which each week will be devoted to Joanna’s presentations. As part of their grade, the students are expected to take – and pass – the LEED exam. The students may opt to go to a classroom or view the webinar from the comfort of their own rooms. They also will have the ability to type in questions during the sessions with Joanna.

Three of the class sessions will feature other PageSoutherlandPage experts: Lewis May, FASLA, on site and landscape architecture; David Euscher, IIDA, LEED, on interiors; and Jonathan Vaughan, CEM, LEED, on building system commissioning.

Joanna is an accredited Education Provider for the USGBC and has presented these classes to PageSoutherlandPage employees, clients and vendors over the past two years. These webinars will be packaged so that other PageSoutherlandPage offices may use them.
