Mattia J. Flabiano III, AIA
Mattia has lived in Dallas all of his life. He has seen the enormous change and rapid growth that has affected the city. Because of his strong ties to the community and his expertise as an architect, three years ago he was asked to become a member of the City of Dallas Landmark Commission. He is currently serving as the Vice-Chair of the Commission, which is tasked with protecting the city’s historic districts and structures, including the original Woodlawn Hospital.
Mattia has been very active with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), where his children are students, not only volunteering his time at schools throughout the district but also offering the support of PageSoutherlandPage. Through a DISD mentoring program for potential first time, college bound students of families in which no one has ever attended college, PageSoutherlandPage gives the students the opportunity to work in a professional environment. As a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Mattia actively supports the J. Erik Jonsson Community School and the Family Works Center which provide support, therapy and education to at-risk children and troubled families of Dallas County.
Mattia’s entire career has been devoted to the planning and design of state-of-the-art healthcare facilities. Through participation in organizations such as the American College of Healthcare Architects, The Advisory Board Company and the Health Industry Advisory Council (HIAC), as well as leading PageSoutherlandPage projects, he keeps abreast of the successful application of healthcare design strategies, not just locally but worldwide. |

Mattia Flabiano joined PageSoutherlandPage following his graduation from Texas A&M University in 1980. Named a principal in 1992, he has been the Healthcare Design Principal for the firm since 1998. In that time, the PageSoutherlandPage healthcare practice volume has more than doubled and has expanded not only nationally but internationally as well. He has led the firm to become a top twenty Modern Healthcare design firm garnering numerous design awards. As the firm grew and the healthcare practice extended beyond Texas, Mattia kept his strong roots in the Dallas community with long-term relationships and projects for the Presbyterian Healthcare System, Baylor Healthcare System and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
