Children’s Medical Center Legacy Wins National AIA AAH Design Award

Children's Medical Center LegacyDallas, Texas (22 March 2010)  The Children’s Medical Center Legacy, in Plano, Texas, was awarded the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health (AIA AAH) best hospital project in the “Built, more than $25 million (construction cost)” category. The AIA AAH annually showcases and celebrates the best of healthcare building design and design-oriented research, and only recognizes three healthcare facilities with awards each year. The announcement was made at the Health Facility PDC Conference in San Diego.

The design for this 301,770-square-foot pediatric specialty hospital maximizes the healing power of nature to create a curative environment influenced by the latest thinking in patient-centered care.  From every public space to every patient room, the design team considered how patient care and safety could be improved through the use of nature, daylight and color, while positively affecting the experiences of patients, families and staff.

Children’s Medical Center has previously been honored with an Honorable Mention Design Award from Modern Healthcare and a Citation of Merit from Healthcare Design. PageSoutherlandPage served as Architect of Record and Design Team Leader and provided strategic planning, programming, clinical planning and MEP engineering for the children’s hospital.
